El Paso Electric generates and distributes electricity through an interconnected system to approximately 320,000 customers in the Rio Grande Valley in West Texas and Southern New Mexico. In New Mexico, EPE offers energy efficiency incentives to residential customers, air conditioning contractors, evaporative cooling installers, weatherization agencies, and commercial/industrial customers.

Energy Efficiency incentives are available on a first-come, first-served basis and depend on available funding. Also, carefully review all program requirements and minimum standards. EPE's qualification requirements are designed to encourage very high efficiency levels, and has set stringent standards for eligibility. Incentives will be offered only for measures that, through onsite inspection, can be verified to comply with program requirements.

Home Efficiency Rebates

EPE is offering its customers an energy efficiency program designed to improve comfort and save energy. EPE's "EPESaver™” program enables you, the customer, to choose the measures that suit your needs. The first step is to review recommendations for your home by participating in EPE's HomeEnergySuite™ program, or contact your local home efficiency contractor. EPE will then pay incentives on upgrades for additional home ceiling, floor, or wall insulation, for the addition of solar screens on east and west facing windows, and for high efficiency evaporative cooler or air conditioner upgrades. Certain customers may also be eligible for measures to reduce air leakage through ductwork, plumbing penetrations, walls, windows, and doors. Click here for a Rebate Form

High Efficiency Cooling Rebates

El Paso Electric (EPE) customers in New Mexico rely on mechanical cooling for comfort throughout much of the year. In this dry climate, one of the most efficient and lowest cost options is the evaporative cooling system. Evaporative cooling has the advantage of low total ownership cost, and with today’s modern systems, customers need not sacrifice comfort, control, or water conservation to enjoy its benefits. EPE pays incentives on high efficiency/water conserving evaporative cooling systems in new or existing residential dwellings.

While evaporative cooling is an excellent choice for many customers, refrigerated air
conditioning is increasingly preferred. EPE recommends that customers choosing refrigerated air systems purchase ENERGY STAR® qualifying equipment to ensure high efficiency. EPE offers incentives to residential customers or contractors to install high efficiency air conditioning in new or existing residential dwellings.

EPESaver Commercial Efficiency Program

EPE's "EPESaver" Commercial Efficiency Program pays incentives to energy efficiency service providers, electrical contractors, lighting vendors, and customers who install energy efficiency measures in commercial or industrial facilities that are located within EPE's New Mexico service territory. Eligible facilities must receive their electricity from EPE.

Projects must meet minimum eligibility criteria and comply with all program rules and procedures. Applicants must use one of the downloadable incentive application spreadsheets to submit project details. Once the measures are installed and the savings are verified, the Project Sponsor receives incentive payments based on the measures installed in accordance with program manual.
